Tennis Association Rankings

If you are a tennis player, you probably are aware of the rankings that are kept by the USTA ( Tennis Association). These rankings are used to determine who the strongest and best tennis players are at any given time. The rankings are a wonderful tool for aspiring tennis players to use as they enter the professional tournaments. However, just like anything in life, there are good and bad rankings. It is important to know when to use the rankings and when they shouldn’t be used.

Most people don’t pay attention to the rankings. When a player makes it to the top 10 rankings, they tend to focus on this number one ranked player or club. As previously mentioned, many people view the rankings when they first come up. They look only at the power of the top players, which they will be if they make it to the top 10 rankings.

Although the rankings are very beneficial to the power players, they can also cause a problem when it comes to junior players. Let’s look at Junior Men’s Tennis. At most young ages, kids are mesmerized with the tennis stars that they see on television. You see Arnold Palmer, John Mcanroe, Andre Agassi and Steve Elkington listed among the best tennis players at one point in time. They are the biggest names in their sport and they all seemed to have it made. Then came the jazz urvedic tennis tournaments, which feature top tennis players from around the world.

When junior players begin playing tennis, they automatically start placing higher than the adults. The problem with this is that while the children are trying to emulate their parents, they are not paying attention to the rankings that the professionals use to determine who earns the highest amount of points during each tournament. What is funny about this is that the rankings are supposed to be helping tennis players get better at the game. How is the professional getting better at his or her game if no one is watching him or her? This is why the tennis association maintains rankings, so that the players will have something to work toward.

If the rankings are changed, how can the players who have been placed lower than them get back on the tennis circuit? There is only one way for this to happen and that is if the players feel that the changes have affected their ranking unfairly. Many times, the players state that they did not play as well as other players in their division. They claim that they were not given the opportunities to prove themselves due to other players having better results. So, the tennis Federation has to look into these issues and take action. They have to make sure that there are no unfair practices taking place.

One way that the ranking system works is through the doubles tournament. Each division has a main tournament that determines the rankings for the whole year. The player with the most doubles wins is usually at the top of the rankings. Every other player is ranked after him. That is also the way that the singles rankings are determined. However, the tennis association realizes that the rankings can be manipulated and they change the rankings once every four years to make sure that it is fair.

So, how does the ranking points system work? First off, you earn a certain amount of ranking points throughout the year based on your performances in the main event and every other event that the tennis tour has scheduled. For example, if you win the singles title and the other player wins the singles title, you earn one hundred ranking points.

Then, each time you win a tournament, you earn another hundred ranking points. You only get to earn as many points as the other players on the tour, though. The only way to lose any points is by missing a match. Therefore, you always want to play well when you are playing in singles and doubles matches, especially in the grand finals. The most important thing is that you play your part and do your best at every point during each of the tennis tours.
